Materials needed: glove
Show demonstration of glove and hand representing body and spirit. Pretend that my hand represents your spirit. It is alive. It can move by itself. Suppose this glove represents your physical body. It cannot move. (Put on glove) When the spirit enters into your physical body, then it can move and act and live. Now you are a person--a person with a physical body living on earth.
After seeing this demonstration, why do you think our body is called a temple? What dwells within it? (Our spirits, and we are spirit children of our Heavenly Father.) Our temple building are the House of the Lord, and our bodies are the homes for our spirits. We must take very good care of our temple bodies, keeping them clean and pure and healthy so that our spirits will have a good place to dwell. Just as following the commandments makes it possible to go to the temple and enjoy the peace there; by keeping our bodies clean and pure, we can achieve peace and happiness while we live the commandments outside the temple.
