Father, I Will Reverent Be

Reverence is a special feeling of love and respect for sacred places.

If possible, show pictures of your meetinghouse and the temple nearest you. Show a picture of Joseph Smith and the sacred grove. Show a picture of Christ, preferably with surroundings showing the children the type of place he lived in.)

Here are pictures of some sacred places for which we should show respect. A sacred place is a holy place, a place where Heavenly Father's spirit may be felt.

Ask the following questions:
  • Can anyone tell us where the Prophet Joseph Smith went as a boy to pray? Why do you think we call it the Sacred Grove?
  • Where did Jesus live? Why do you think it is called the Holy Land?
This is a picture of our meetinghouse. It is a sacred place because it was dedicated or blessed as a place to worship Heavenly Father and Jesus. That is why we should be reverent in the meetinghouse.

This is a picture of the (name) temple. Why is it a sacred place? Our temples and temple grounds are sacred, and we should be reverent when we visit them. We should be reverent in all sacred places.
